Dictate into any app on your Mac
Diktat inserts your text directly into the field where your cursor sits. At the same time, it also lands on your clipboard. Both happen together, every time you dictate.
The text lands twice.
Diktat inserts your text into the focused field and puts it on the clipboard at the same time. This is not a setting you choose. It happens on every dictation, no exceptions. That way you always have the text on hand, even if the paste does not arrive for some reason.
How you start.
Press your key, the right Command key by default. A short tap starts the recording and keeps it running. Holding the key down records only for as long as you hold it. Once you stop, Diktat processes the text and pastes it in.
When pasting does not work.
Some fields block automatic pasting, for example locked password fields. A missing Accessibility permission has the same effect. In both cases your text still lands on the clipboard. The pill tells you why, and Command-V pastes it by hand.
Any field with a cursor.
Diktat has no list of approved apps. It pastes wherever your cursor is blinking, whether that is an editor, a note, or a chat window. Switch apps before pasting, and the text lands in the new one.
What does not happen.
Diktat does not rewrite your words. No trimming filler words, no grammar fixes, no rephrasing. Punctuation and capitalization come exactly as the recognition delivers them. What you say is what shows up.
Common questions.
Does pasting work in every app?
In any field that accepts a cursor, yes. Exceptions are fields the system itself locks, such as password fields. Your text still lands on the clipboard there.
What if pasting fails?
The text is never lost. It sits on your clipboard, and the pill shows why pasting did not work. Checking your Accessibility permission solves most cases.
Does Diktat change what I said?
No. Diktat transcribes, it does not interpret. There is no language model rewriting your text afterward.
