Dragon is discontinued. What now?
Dragon Professional is no longer being developed. If you have dictated with it for years, you are looking for a way that works without it. This page covers what Diktat can do, what it cannot, and how the switch works.
What you lose from Dragon.
Dragon users often spend years training a personal voice profile. Diktat does not train on your voice. There is no profile that improves over time. Voice commands like new paragraph or select all do not exist. Custom macros for recurring phrases are gone entirely. If you used Dragon to control programs or menus by voice, there is no replacement for that.
What stays the same.
You speak, the text appears. Punctuation and capitalization come exactly as the recognition delivers them. The text lands in your clipboard and, on Mac, directly in the field you were using. If you use the same terms often, you can set up your own replacement rules. A recognized term then gets replaced with your spelling. That is not a voice profile, but it helps with names and technical terms that repeat.
What is different at the start.
Diktat does not know you better after your hundredth sentence than after your first. There is no enrollment, no training session, no progress bar for recognition accuracy. If Dragon gave you a fixed vocabulary for technical language, you rebuild that with your own dictionary now. The app does not learn it on its own. Text is never reformatted or rewritten on its own. What you say is what ends up on the page.
How to get started.

What Diktat does not replace.
Diktat is not a voice control tool for your whole computer. It recognizes spoken text and stores it, nothing more. Common questions.
Can I bring over my Dragon vocabulary?
No, there is no direct import. Frequent terms or names can be added one by one as a replacement rule in the dictionary. That rebuilds a vocabulary by hand, not automatically.
Does Diktat work offline like Dragon?
The dictation itself never leaves your device. Downloading the recognition engine and completing a purchase need a connection once. After that, recognition runs without internet.
Is Diktat available for Windows like Dragon?
No, Diktat runs only on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. There is no Windows version planned, because the app is built specifically around Apple's own recognition and the Neural Engine.
