Activating your license and freeing up a Mac

After your purchase, you get your license key by email from Polar (polar.sh), our payment provider for the Mac. Enter it in Diktat under Settings. The app checks it once online and unlocks Pro afterward.

One key activates Diktat on up to 3 Macs at the same time. Each activated Mac takes up one of those 3 spots until you free it up again. Another Mac needs a free spot first.

Switching to a new Mac instead of an old one? Deactivate the old one first. In Diktat, that's under Settings, with Deactivate this Mac. That frees up the spot for the new Mac. If you no longer have access to the old Mac, say it was sold or reset, email us at hello@diktatapp.com. We'll free up the spot for you.

The Mac purchase is a one-time payment, with no subscription and no ongoing cost. It covers up to 3 Macs at once, exactly as described above in this article. The Mac purchase runs completely independent of the purchase for iPhone and iPad. If you already bought Diktat on your iPhone, you still need a separate key for the Mac. The reverse holds too, a Mac purchase doesn't automatically unlock iPhone or iPad. Both purchases run entirely apart from each other, with their own payment path and key. Each platform stays a single, separate purchase this way, with no bundle and no account.

Your dictations themselves never need internet, no matter which engine you use for them. Only activating your key happens online once, right at the moment you enter it. After that, Diktat checks your license again from time to time, fully on its own. That only needs a brief connection each time it happens. Your dictionary rules and settings stay completely untouched by that, fully local on the Mac. Reinstall Diktat on the same Mac, and you just enter your key once again. The app checks it online once more then, exactly like it did the first time.

1. Open Diktat and go to Settings.
2. Enter the license key from your purchase confirmation.
3. Activating a different Mac? Deactivate an old one first with Deactivate this Mac.
