Dictionary

You add rules in the pattern 'recognized → written'. If Diktat recognizes 'koda', it writes 'Coda' instead from then on. Every rule applies right away, to every dictation on this device. The dictionary is part of Diktat for Mac. On iPhone, it arrives with one of the next updates.

New rules live in Settings, under Dictionary. Diktat ignores upper and lower case when it searches, and writes the spelling exactly as you typed it.

The dictionary corrects the spelling after Diktat has recognized a word. It never teaches the recognition itself a new word. Every rule stays on this device. Nothing syncs between iPhone and Mac. A rule needs a target and cannot contain a line break.

For 'recognized', enter exactly what Diktat currently outputs for you. Not how the word sounds to you, but how it later shows up in the finished text. Check your history and copy the wrong spelling straight from there. Search itself ignores upper and lower case, so one rule covers 'Coda' and 'coda' alike. For the output, though, Diktat uses exactly the spelling you typed in yourself. A rule only ever matches a whole word, never part of a longer one. Add overlapping rules, and the longer one wins out in the end.

Does Diktat recognize a word differently each time for you, say 'koda' once and 'kodda' another? Your rule only catches exactly the spelling you entered, nothing else. The other spelling needs a second, separate rule of its own. Add a rule during a running recording, and it only applies starting from the next one. Nothing changes for the recording already in progress, it stays exactly as it is. If a rule stays silent anyway, compare 'recognized' against the raw output in your history. The difference is usually just a space, a punctuation mark, or a single wrong letter.

1. Open Settings and choose Dictionary.
2. Click New Rule.
3. Enter what Diktat recognizes, and below it, what it should write instead.
4. Save the rule. It applies from your next recording.
